There are certain restrictions for motorhomes parking in North Yorkshire. These can be found below. It is important to always check the local signs before parking in an area.
Park and ride areas
Motorhomes are allowed to park at the Scarborough park and ride sites, but not overnight. Caravans are not permitted.
Other parking areas
Motorhomes are not permitted to park between the hours of 11pm and 7am each day on the following streets:
- North Promenade, Whitby
- East Terrace, Whitby
- Royal Crescent, Whitby
- Links View/Love Lane, Whitby
- Sandside, Scarborough
- Foreshore Road, Scarborough
- Esplanade, Scarborough
- The Beach Road, Filey
- The Crescent, Filey
- A174 Sandsend, "The Parade"
Any other unrestricted road remains available for motorhome parking. It is important to always check the local signs and road markings before parking in an area. There are also many privately owned caravan camping sites along the coast line which welcome guests.
North Yorkshire Moors
Policy for motorhomes and horseboxes.
Filey
There are 2 car parks without height barriers convenient for the beach. West Avenue is near the golf course and Filey Brigg Country Park. Both pay and display.
B6255 Kirby Lonsdale to Hawes
This is a beautiful road with lovely views. Opp Ribblehead Viaduct there is a good lay by and walking a few yards along a track gives a great view of the viaduct.
Ripon
Bondergate Green has a few spaces roadside but will fill up quickly.
Boroughbridge
There is a small car park on the banks of the River Ure just before Langthorpe.
Leighton Moss RSPB.
Large car park. I parked in 2 places without interfering in other parking spaces.
York
Askham Bar Park and Ride has an area specifically for motorhomes. There looks to be about 10 spaces.
